Our large DS-F downlights very popular for lighting large commercial buildings with high ceilings, providing ample light throughout the space. But one large office building wanted more than that. Large paintings and prominent signage were displayed on walls throughout the building, yet they were overshadowed by the building’s existing ceiling lighting. As a result, the paintings didn’t stand out, and the signage cast large shadows. Our Make It Your Own department was tasked with solving this problem. The Wallwasher Solution
The Walwasher is a powerful light designed to perfectly illuminate vertical surfaces, ensuring that no detail is lost. Artwork, photographs, and lettering are brought to life with this lighting.
How does the wallwasher work?
To design the Wallwasher, we took our DS-F downlights a starting point and transformed them into wall lighting. What makes the Wallwasher unique is the asymmetrical beam angle we added. This beam angle ensures that objects on the wall are perfectly illuminated without leaving any dark spots.
We were able to attach an existing Ledil asymmetrical lens to our existing heat sink using a 3D-printed mounting bracket. The fixture was completed with a laser-cut metal front ring. We can also customize these to match hole size ceiling color so that the fixture fits seamlessly into any space.
Specifications
The Wallwasher was developed based on the popular DS-F lighting series. This fixture, featuring an asymmetric beam, is a great addition to the various beam angles offered by Illuxtron in its DS-F line. This gives customers the choice of 45-, 65-, 80-, or wall-angle beams for maximum flexibility.
The luminaire used in this project offers an efficientCRI of 80, ensuring that the wall is adequately illuminated. If artwork needs to be highlighted, a CRI 97 LED can be selected for optimal color rendering. With a luminaire height of 87 mm, the Wallwasher is a perfect fit for retrofit projects.
