Why lighting is at the top of the renovation agenda:
1.New laws and regulations: examples include the mandatory Energy Label C for office buildings, the transition from fluorescent to LED lighting, and BREEAM certification.
2. More renovation instead of new construction: an increasing number of office buildings are being renovated and redesigned. This calls for smart lighting solutions to address outdated fixtures, non-standard mounting hole sizes, and limited installation space.
3. Ban on fluorescent lighting fixtures: As of August 24, 2023, T5, T8, and T12 tubes may no longer be manufactured or imported in the EU. LED is now the standard replacement.
4. Future Energy Performance Certificate and the EPBDDirective: Smart lighting management systems will become mandatory in future renovations of commercial buildings. Lighting must be able to switch on and off based on occupancy and daylight, be linked to the energy management system, and provide real-time insight into consumption and performance.
