Now that the days are getting shorter again, light plays an even more important role in our daily lives. Light influences the production of hormones that are crucial for a good night’s sleep. However, the decrease in natural daylight during the winter months, combined with blue light late into the evening, can seriously disrupt our circadian rhythm and sleep quality. This makes the transition to standard time the perfect moment to review and adjust our lighting habits for better health.

What can you do yourself when the clocks turn back for winter time?
Artificial light is unavoidable during the winter months. That’s why you should start your (work) day with bright, cool white light to synchronize your body clock. It’s also important to let as much natural light into your home or work environment as possible during the day. If that’s not possible, take a short walk during your break to get some extra exposure to natural light. Finally, it helps to limit exposure to blue light in the evening and dim the lights before bedtime. This helps your body rhythm better align with the seasons, which can lead to falling asleep faster and improved sleep quality.

What solution did MIYO ?
Although the tips mentioned above seem simple, putting them into practice can be a challenge. One of our customers experienced this as well, which led to the development of a custom lighting solution by our MIYO. An excellent example of this is our Strada 68 RGBW , featuring the latest PI-LED technology. This technology enhances well-being by mimicking natural light transitions, ranging from 1,800K candlelight to 16,000K daylight, including RGB options. This lighting solution promotes a healthy sleep-wake cycle through natural hormone regulation and is ideal for use in schools, offices, smart homes, and healthcare facilities.
